Standard Metal Bunk Bed
A two-tier metal bunk built for heavier use, with a chipboard headboard panel and C-channel side rails. The uprights are 40 × 40 × 1.5 mm, and the ladder and upper guardrail move to either side after delivery.
It works two ways. Stack it as a bunk, or split it into two single beds, which makes it a practical fit for dormitories and camps where the room layout changes.

We make three metal bunks and they are separate products, not versions of one another. This one is the heavier build, 40 × 40 × 1.5 mm uprights with C-channel side rails and a chipboard headboard panel, and it stacks as a bunk or splits into two single beds.
The Economic Metal Bunk Bed is 40 × 40 mm box section with no wood headboard detailing, and its ladder slots into the side rails rather than being welded on. The Demountable Metal Bunk Bed takes apart completely, down to the ladder, which is why a 20′ container holds 230 of them against 50 of these.

Where it's used
It fits shared sleeping quarters where a set number of beds go into a fixed floor area, from student and worker dormitories to barracks and military camps. Because it splits into singles, one order can cover rooms that need bunks and rooms that need single beds.

We load on pallets as standard, since palletized bunks move faster at both ends and stack cleanly in the warehouse. The loose figure is the extra that fits in the space left over once the pallets are in, for when the count per load is what matters most. A fully loose load gains little beyond that, since most of the saving is the pallet height itself.

Frequently asked questions
Can this be used as two single beds?
Yes. It stacks as a two tier bunk or separates into two single beds, which suits dormitory and camp projects where the layout changes.
Which side is the ladder on?
The ladder and the upper guardrail move to either side after delivery, so the same bunk works against a left wall or a right wall. This helps when a room has bunks on both walls and the ladders need to line up. On the economic model the side is set when the order is placed.
What is the clearance between the two beds?
The gap between the lower and upper bed is 860 mm, and the guardrail on the upper tier is 250 mm high and 1320 mm long. The clearance can be changed to suit your project.
How much weight does the bunk take?
We do not publish a load figure, since we have not had the bunk load tested. What we can tell you is how it is built. The bed base sits on 30 × 20 × 0.9 mm steel cross members, so the load spreads across the frame rather than a few points, and the uprights are 40 × 40 × 1.5 mm. The bunk is built for adult use in dormitories, worker housing, and camps.

How does this differ from the economic bunk bed?
The standard is the heavier build. It uses 40 × 40 × 1.5 mm uprights, C-channel side rails at 120 × 40 mm, and a chipboard headboard panel, and the ladder and guardrail move to either side after delivery. The economic model is lighter box section with the ladder side fixed at order time.
Can the bunk be fixed to the floor?
Yes, floor-fixing feet with anchor holes are available as an option, so the bunk can be dowelled to the floor for extra stability in high-use rooms.
Are mattresses included?
Mattresses can be supplied separately, with the bunk or later.
How does the standard bunk ship?
The standard bunk is welded and ships unassembled, stretch wrapped per bunk, then bolts together on site. The headboards stay welded on this model.
