Static shelving spends most of its floor on aisles nobody is standing in. This system puts the rows on floor rails and closes the aisles, then opens one where someone is working. The same room holds a great deal more paper. Bays are 1000 mm wide and 2170 mm high, made in Turkey in cold-rolled DC01 steel.
One aisle instead of many
A room of static shelving needs a walkway beside every row. Count them and the aisles usually take more floor than the shelves do. Park the rows against each other on rails and only one walkway has to exist at a time, opened at the row someone is actually working in.
Each row is moved by hand from the front wheel, on a chain and gear drive running on ball bearing wheels. Locking the front cabinet secures the whole row behind it, so a records room is closed with one key rather than cabinet by cabinet. Doors sit on concealed hinges and open a full 180 degrees, with dust seal gaskets keeping the shelves clean between openings.
Bay sizes and row widths
Every bay is 1000 mm wide and 2170 mm high. What changes is the depth and how many bays make up a row. A single sided run against a wall is 300 mm deep, a double sided run in the middle of a room is 600 mm, and 630 mm covers the version where the doors are driven from the wheel.
| Configuration | Depth |
|---|---|
| Single sided | 300 mm |
| Double sided | 600 mm |
| With wheel driven doors | 630 mm |
Rows are built from a single bay up to four. In multi bay systems that gives row widths of 2000, 3000, and 4000 mm. A standard bay carries 4 shelves in 5 tiers.
480 files in one cabinet
A double sided cabinet at 1000 × 600 × 2170 mm holds 480 personnel files, on 8 telescopic hanging file units. That is the figure to work from when you are sizing a room, and it is a real count on a real cabinet rather than a shelf length converted into files.
Multiply it across a four bay row and one row of that system takes a filing room that would otherwise need most of a wall. It is also the number to give us when you ask for a layout. Tell us how many files have to go in and how big the room is, and we work back from there.
The rails come with the system
The 50 × 16 mm steel flat rails are part of what we ship. The system arrives complete and is fitted on site, rails first and then the rows onto them. There is nothing to arrange in advance and nothing to source separately.
What it does mean is that this is fitted work rather than furniture that is wheeled into place. The layout details showing where each rail runs come with the order. Send us the floor plan and the number of files at the quotation stage and that layout comes back with the quote rather than after it.

Frequently asked questions
How much floor space does it save?
Static shelving needs an aisle beside every row, and those aisles stand empty most of the day. A compact system parks the rows against each other and opens one aisle where someone is working, so the floor that was aisle becomes storage.
Do we have to do anything to the floor first?
Nothing. The 50 × 16 mm steel flat rails come with the system and are fitted to the floor on site. We provide the layout details showing where each rail runs with your order.
How many files does one cabinet hold?
A double sided cabinet at 1000 × 600 × 2170 mm holds 480 personnel files, on 8 telescopic hanging file units.
How are the rows moved?
By hand. A chain and gear drive on ball bearing wheels moves each row from the front wheel.
How is a row secured?
Locking the front cabinet secures the whole row behind it.
Which depths are available?
Three. 300 mm single sided, 600 mm double sided, and 630 mm where the doors are driven from the wheel.
How wide can a row be?
Bays are 1000 mm wide, and multi bay rows run 2000, 3000, and 4000 mm. Systems run from a single bay up to four bays.
Which colors are available?
RAL 7035 light gray is the standard, and any RAL is available on request.
How long is delivery?
Lead time is 15 to 20 days from order confirmation, and we confirm the date with your quotation.
Can you produce under our own brand?
Yes. Private label is possible, and we discuss the tooling cost and the minimum quantity with you. Your logo can also go on the packaging, reviewed by quantity, and there is no extra charge if you supply your own packaging.
